Units of a physical quantity are of two types which are derived and fundamental physical quantity.

The fundamental physical quantities are those which originate from the basic formula of a term. For example the SI unit of

mass= kg\ (kilogram)

speed=\frac{meter}{second}

time= second

The derived quantities are those which are derived by a formula in which basic quantities are used. For example the units of

Force=\frac{Kg\times m}{s^{2} } =Newton

If we change the unit of a physical quantity then its magnitude also changes according to the relation between the previous unit and the changed unit.

For example, changing the unit of speed from \frac{m}{s} to \frac{km}{hr} we have to multiply the magnitude with  \frac{18}{5}
