Answer: Because of the ambiguity of the word “pink”, I here interpret it to mean magenta, because that is only interpretation of the word that has a precise meaning. It means equal stimulation of the eyes’ red and blue sensors, with zero stimulation of the green sensors.  Yellow has a precise meaning. It means equal stimulation of the eyes’ red and green sensors, with zero stimulation of the blue sensors.  If you add light of those two colors, you get some stimulation of all three color sensors, so the resulting color has low saturation, i.e. is pale. Since there is more stimulation of the red sensors than of the other two, the color will be reddish.  If you mix dyes of those two colors, the yellow dye eliminates blue and the magenta dye eliminates green, so you get saturated red. Indeed, printers mix yellow and magenta dyes to print red. For pale red, they apply that mixture thinly, so that some of the assumed white of the substrate shows through.  Since yellow and magenta are two of the dyes that printers use (along with cyan to eliminate red), the occurrence of those colors in the question suggests that we are indeed talking about mixing dyes rather than lights, so my answer is saturated red.
