Studying using laptop.

Reason:

Laptops naturally have a bigger screen and display, which is why it is ideal for working on it for more extended hours. Spending a lot of time typing on a mobile or browsing the web can result in quite a bit of strain on your eyes which can result in a headache.

While mobile computing might feel attractive for shorter periods of time if you plan to spend a considerable time in front of a screen, it is recommended to carry a laptop.

Storage capacity is an essential consideration when it comes to the device you are using. A very basic laptop starts at a storage capacity of at least 250 GB and the more high-end you go; the storage capacity just increases.

Most notebooks also give you decent storage of at least 300 GB, a purpose that is not served on a phone. Hence, using a laptop instead of mobile becomes even more critical.

Many professors will assume you’re playing games or texting if you’re trying to take notes with a smartphone and will quickly act to reprimand you or demand you take notes the old fashion way (pen and paper) or more traditionally (laptop)

On the other side, you have a smartphone, but it sounds like it’s just bogged down with fluff. Yes newer phones have better hardware making them faster, but this is “faster” because you simply want to be faster and want something more up to date. Your currently device can do the same things, albeit slower, but it ultimately can do the same things.

A laptop is helpful in many ways. For example: You will be having loads of assignments, presentations etc. So, it will be much easier for you to create a presentation or complete an assignment on your laptop than your phone. And if you are a computer’s student, Laptop should be your first priority as you need to code a lot. Also, for mechanical engineers and electrical engineers too, a laptop is important as they need to use softwares like MATLAB, AutoCAD, Sketchbook etc.

Disadvantages of cell phones in this case scenario:

Smartphones not only distract children from studies, but may also be their tool of malpractices to score well in exams. Using the inbuilt calculator in exams where it isn’t allowed, storing photographs or reference information to cheat in the examination, or even exchanging answers with other students over chat during the exam, have been widely observed in various schools. Such behaviour not only affects academic performance, but also results in a personality issue.

Heavy internet and mobile phone users are prone to lack of concentration and forget things easily. This also affects their awareness and eventually lead to passive mind . Moreover, this also leads to weak focus and attention.

Despite knowing about education-related apps, kids spend most of their time doing following activities:

  • Listening music frequently
  • Playing mobile games
  • Chatting and calling friends
  • Following social media

Children may stay up late talking to friends, playing games, or scrolling through social media, which over a period of time, causes fatigue and restlessness. Sleep also disrupts academic life, as kids are too sleepy to concentrate on what is taught in school. Hence, this has a domino effect that seeps into all walks of their lives.

Anxiety, stress and depression are also some of the problems faced by students due to 24-hour connection with friends and other people.

What leads to a confused state of mind? Students get deep into a delirious state of mind once they start keeping their phone next to them at all times.

  • They do not sleep
  • They constantly check their phone
  • Despite sleeping, they are not stress free

Of course, use of technology has direct implication on education, be it positive or negative. If a teacher is using technology in the classroom, it will benefit a student. However, if a student chatting for long hours on phone, it will definitely leave a negative impact on him/her.
