==> (x^{2} -1 ) / x                                        

==> ( (1 + \sqrt{2} ) - 1 / 1 + \sqrt{2})     (Replacing values of x)

==> 1 + 2 + 2\sqrt{2} -1 / 1 + \sqrt{2}

==> 2 + \sqrt{2} / 1 + \sqrt{2}

==> 2 (1 + \sqrt{2}) / 1 + \sqrt{2}

==> 2

∴ x-1 / x

==> 2
