Here's your answer !!

It's given that,

 = > x = 1 - \sqrt{2}

We have to find value of ,

 = > x - \frac{1}{x} .........(1)

Now,

if \: x = 1 - \sqrt{2}

So,

 = > \frac{1}{x} = \frac{1}{1 - \sqrt{2} }

We will not rationalize it ,

 = > \frac{1}{1 - \sqrt{2} } \times \frac{1 + \sqrt{2} }{1 + \sqrt{2} }

 = > \frac{1 + \sqrt{2} }{ {(1)}^{2} - {( \sqrt{2}) }^{2} }

 = > \frac{1 + \sqrt{2} }{ - 1} \\ = > - (1 + \sqrt{2})

 = > \frac{1}{x} = - (1 + \sqrt{2})

By putting value of x and 1/x in equation (1),we get :-

 = > x + \frac{1}{x} = 1 - \sqrt{2} - ( - (1 + \sqrt{2} ) \\ = > x + \frac{1}{x} = 1 - \sqrt{2} + 1 + \sqrt{2}

 - \sqrt{2} \: and \: \sqrt{2} \: get \: cancelled

 = > x + \frac{1}{x} = 2
