if this the root for the quadratic equation then put it in the equation
3.(-1/2)^2 + 2 k (-1/2) - 3 = 0
3.(1/4) + (-2k/2) - 3 =0

3/4 - 2 k - 3 = 0
3 - 2k - 3 = 0
-2k = 0
k = 2
so the value of k is (2)

If x=1/2, then, 3×(1/2)^2+2k×1/2-3......... 3/4+2k/2-3=0......... 3/4+2k/2=3.......... 3/4+k= 3.......... k=3-3/4= 12-3/4= 8/4= 2........ Therefore k=2.
