SOLUTION

GIVEN

x +  \frac{1}{x}  = 2

TO DETERMINE

 {x}^{102}  +  \frac{1}{ {x}^{102} }

EVALUATION

x +  \frac{1}{x}  = 2

 \implies \:  \frac{ {x}^{2} + 1 }{x}  = 2

 \implies \:  {x}^{2}  + 1 = 2x

 \implies \:  {x}^{2}  - 2x + 1 = 0

 \implies \:  {(x - 1)}^{2}  = 0

 \implies \: x = 1

So

 {x}^{102}  +  \frac{1}{ {x}^{102} }

 =  {(1)}^{102}  +  \frac{1}{ {(1)}^{102} }

 = 1 + 1

 = 2
