$x + \frac{1}{x} = \sqrt{6} \\ x {}^{2} + \frac{1}{ {x}^{2} } + 2x \times \frac{1}{x} = 6 \\ x {}^{2} + \frac{1}{ {x}^{2} } + 2 = 6 \\ {x}^{2} + \frac{1}{ {x}^{2} } = 4$
