 \frac{x}{12}  =  \frac{2}{3}  =  \frac{y}{6}

 \frac{x}{12}  =  \frac{2}{3}

x =  \frac{2 \times 12}{3}

x = 8

 \frac{y}{6}  =  \frac{2}{3}

y =  \frac{2 \times 6}{3}


y = 4

x + y = 8 + 4  \\  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   \:  \:  \:   \:   \:  = 12
