if x=2+√3, find the value of x²+1/x²​

It is given that,

i)x = 2+√3 ---(1)

ii) 1/x = 1/(2+√3)

= (2-√3)/[(2+√3)(2-√3)]

= (2-√3)/[2²+(√3)²]

= (2-√3)/(4-3)

= 2-√3 ----(2)

iii ) x+1/x = 2+√3+2-√3 = 4---(3)

Now ,

x²+1/x² = (x+1/x)²-2

= 4² -2

= 16 - 2

= 14

Therefore,

x²+1/x² = 14
