Answer:

x² - 4/x² = 3

multiply both sides by x²

x⁴ - 4 = 3x²

x⁴ - 3x² - 4 = 0

=> x⁴ - 4x² + x² - 4 = 0

=> x² ( x² - 4) + 1 (x² - 4) = 0

=> (x² + 1)(x² - 4) = 0

=> x² + 1 = 0 and x² - 4 = 0

=> x² = -1 and x = ± 2

=> x = ±√-1 which is imaginary

=> x = + i, x = - i x = - 2 and x = +2

therefore real values of x are - 2 and +2
