(x - 2) \: is \: a \: factor \: of \: the \: polynomial \: p(x)

(x - 2) = 0

x = 2

Putting the value of 2 in p(x)

 {x}^{3}  -  {5x}^{2}  + kx + 4 = 0

 {(2)}^{3}  - 5 {(2)}^{2}  + 2k + 4 = 0

8 - 20 + 2k + 4 = 0

 - 12 + 2k + 4 = 0

 - 8 + 2k = 0

2k = 8

k = 8/2

k = 4

Ans. 4
