If (x-2) is a factor of the polynomial x3 – x2 + kx + 24 . Find the value of ‘k’

Answer:

p(x)=x3-x2+kx+24

(x-2) is a factor,

therefore, x=2

now putting the value of x in p(x),

0=(2)^3 - (2)^2 + k(2) + 24

0=8 - 4 + 2k + 24

0=28 + 2k

-2k=28

k=28/-2

k= -14
