 {x}^{2}  +  \sqrt{2} x + k = 0
 \:  \:  \: on \: putting \: x =  \sqrt{2}
( \sqrt{2} ) {}^{2}  +  \sqrt{2} ( -  \sqrt{2} ) + k = 0
2 - 2 + k = 0
k = 0

the \: value \: of \: k \: is \: 0
