Answer:

f(x)=x^3-x^2-a

since x-2 is factor of f(x)

putting x=2 give f(x)=0

2^3-2^2-a=0

8-4-a=0

a=4

Answer:

a = 4

Step-by-step explanation:

x-2 = 0

x = 2

p(x) = x³ - x²- a

p(2) = 0-------(x - 2 is a factor of the polynomial)

Substituting the value of x in the polynomial,

2³- 2²- a = 0

8 - 4 - a = 0

4 - a = 0

4 = a

Therefore, the value of a is 4.
