If (x + 2) is a factor, then the other factor is (x + 7). (for 2 x 7 = 14)

Use the FOIL method.

(x + 2)(x + 7) = x² + 7x + 2x + 14

Simplify: x² + 9x + 14

Note that m is located next to x

mx = 9x

m = 9

the value of m is 9

hope this helps

Answer:

(-2)^2+m×(-2)+14

4-2m+14=0

-2m= -14 - 4

-2m= -18

2m=18

m=18/2

m=9
