Hey there!

_______________________

Given :

x = 2,

y = 3

To find :

Value of P.

Solution :

( p + 1 ) x - ( 2p + 3 ) y - 1 = 0

⇒ ( p + 1 ) * 2 - ( 2p + 3 ) * 3 - 1 = 0

⇒ 2 ( p + 1 ) - 3 ( 2p + 3 ) - 1 = 0

⇒ 2p + 2 - 6p - 9 - 1 = 0

⇒ - 4p - 8 = 0

⇒ - 4p = 8

⇒ p = - 8 / 4

⇒ p = - 2

Hence, the value of P is - 2.

Verification :

Putting the value of P = - 2.

( p + 1 ) x - ( 2p + 3 ) y - 1 = 0

⇒ ( -2 + 1 ) 2 - { 2 (-2) + 3} 3 - 1 = 0

⇒ - 1 * 2 - { - 4 + 3} * 3 = 0

⇒ - 2 + 12 - 9 = 0

⇒ 12 - 12 = 0

⇒ 0 = 0

LHS = RHS.

Hence, the value of P is - 2.
