If x=2cubex3x5square, y=2cubex3cube, then find hcf x, y

Given:

x = (2^3)(3)(5^2)    and  y = (2^3)(3^3)

These numbers are already in prime factorization form.

And we know that H.C.F means the greatest number which can divide the given numbers.

As per the formula, H.C.F of 2 numbers is the product of the common factors(we have to take the factor with the least power) in the prime factorization of the 2 numbers.

Like in this case 2 and 3 are the common factors and the least power of 2 is 3 and the least power of 3 is 1 . And 5 is not a common factor.

Therefore H.C.F = (2^3)(3) = 24
