x = 3 -   \sqrt[2]{2}

 \frac{1}{x}  =  \frac{1}{3 -  \sqrt[2]{2} }  \frac{(3 +  \sqrt[2]{2)} }{(3 +  \sqrt[2]{2}) }

 \frac{1}{x}  =  \frac{3 +  \sqrt[2]{2} }{ {3}^{2}  - ( \sqrt[2]{2}) }

 = 3 +  \sqrt[2]{2}

x +  \frac{1}{x}  = (3 -  \sqrt[2]{2}) + ( {3 -  \sqrt[2]{2} } )

x \frac{1}{x}  = 6

x +  \frac{1}{x}  = 2 + 4

x +  \frac{1}{x}  - 2 = 4

( \sqrt{x}  -  \frac{1}{x} ) = 4

 \sqrt{x}  -  \frac{1}{ \sqrt{x} }

 =  \pm \:2
