x^2 -2k -6 = 0

putting the value of x

3^2 - 2k = 6

9 -2k = 6

-2k = 6-9

-2k = -3

2k = 3

k = 3/2

i hope this will help you

p(x)=x2 -2k -6
(x=3) is a root of p(x)
Therefore,
p(3)=(3)2 -2k -6=0
9 -2k -6=0
3 -2k=0
3=2k
k=3/2
Here it is!!!!
