Answer 5:8

explanation

x=5k

y=8k

so x+5=5k+5

y+8 =8k+8

x+5:y+8 =5k +5:8k+8

=5(k+1):8(k+1)

=5:8

mkrishnan: mark brainliest answer
veerukhugar: ok
mkrishnan: thanks
mkrishnan: please do quick
veerukhugar: actually I am not getting any option to mark
veerukhugar: where I have to do this?
mkrishnan: ok no problem

Answer:   (X+5):(Y+8)=5:8.

Step-by-step explanation:  We are given that

\dfrac{X}{5}=\dfrac{Y}{8}~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(i)

We are to find the value of the following ratio :

(X+5):(Y+8)=?

Adding 1 to both sides of the above, we get

\dfrac{X}{5}+1=\dfrac{Y}{8}+1\\\\\\\Rightarrow \dfrac{X+5}{5}=\dfrac{Y+8}{8}\\\\\\\Rightarrow \dfrac{X+5}{Y+8}=\dfrac{5}{8}\\\\\\\Rightarrow (X+5):(Y+8)=5:8.

Thus, (X+5):(Y+8)=5:8.
