Step-by-step explanation:

x - y = 2 _ (1)

x + y = 4 _ (2)

(1) + (2) ,

2x = 6

or, x = 3 i.e., a = 3

and y = 4 - x = 1 i.e., b = 1

Qυᥱ᥉էᎥ᥆ꪀ :-

If x = a and y = b is the solution of the equation x - y = 2 and x + y = 4 then ghe values of a and b are respectively.

Ꮪ᥆ℓυէᎥ᥆ꪀ :-

Given:-

x = a and y = b is the solution of the equation x - y = 2 and x + y = 4

To find:-

The values of a and b.

⠀⠀

Now, the given pair of linear equations is :

a - b = 2 — eq.(i)

a + b = 4⠀⠀ — eq.(ii)

On adding Eqs. (i) and (ii), we get

2a = 6

⇒ a = 3

Putting a = 3 in eq.(ii), we get

3 + b = 4

⇒ b = 4 - 3

∴ b = 1

Hence, a = 3 and b = 1.
