 If x=a and y=b is the solution of the equations x-y=2 and x+y =4 then the value of a and b are, respectively. ( A ) 3 and 5 ( B ) 3 and 1 ( C ) 5 and 3 ( D ) -1 and -3.

solving both equations simultaneously, we get,
2x=6
x=3
thus a=3
substituting value of x in (x-y=2)
3-y=2
y=1
thus b=1

hope this helps!

firozlalanigmailcom: que..how u get 2x=6
hitarthgodhani: on adding both equations we will get 2x=6!
KaranYadav11: x=6/2
KaranYadav11: x=3
firozlalanigmailcom: so option (c) is correct
hitarthgodhani: ya srry c is correct!
