Here

x = at²
And
y = 2at

Here,
x = at²
=
 \sqrt{x \:}  \:  \:  =  \:  \: at...........1
As we replaced the square root from lhs to rhs
Therefore it became root x.

Now
y = 2at
= y/2 = at................ 2

Now from 1 and 2 we got

 \sqrt{x \: }  \:  \:  \:  =  \:  \:  \: y \div 2
