if x is an irrational number so it's square will also be irrational.
for e.g the value of pi(3.14....)×X is an irrational number..
but it may be rational as well..
as experts are still arguing on it

If x is an irrational number then x2 can be rational or irrational number.

Let the irrational number be x = √3.

Then x2 = (√3)2 = 3 which is a rational number.

If x = √3 - 1 then

x2 =  (√3 - 1)2 = (√3)2  + (1)2 - 2√3 = 4 - 2√3 which is again an irrational number.
