Step-by-step explanation:

first multiplying RHS of equation by (8+6i) in Nr & Dr , Which is the corresponding conjugate of (8-6i) in Dr ,and we get

(x+iy) = (48 +14i )/100

On comparison of both sides,

x = 48/100

y = 14/100

Now, x^2+ y^2 = (2304 + 196)/10000 =2500/10000=1/4

Hence Proved
