x^2 - 2x+1 =0

the roots of the above equation are 1

The equation has repeated roots at x=1;

Substituting x=1 in the equation x+ 1÷x

implies 1+1=2

Solution:-

=> x² - 2x + 1 = 0

by mid term splitting.

=> x² - x - x + 1 = 0

=> x ( x - 1 ) - 1 ( x - 1 ) = 0

=> ( x - 1 ) ( x - 1 ) = 0

=> x - 1 = 0 or x - 1 = 0

we get x = 1 from both

=> x = 1

put x = 1 in below

=> x + 1/x

=> 1 + 1/1

=> 1 + 1

=> 2

Hence, x + 1/x = 2

i hope it helps you.
