x^2 + kx - 35 = (x -5) ( x + 7)

Firstly solve the RHS...

(x-5) (x+7)

=x(x+7) -5(x+7)

=x^2 + 7x - 5x - 35

=x^2 + 2x - 35

NOW,,

=> x^2 + kx - 35 = x^2 + 2x - 35

So , we will replace k with 2 as per...

LHS = RHS

So, k = 2
