Answer:

Add two equations

(x+y)+(x-y)=3+1

x+x+y-y=4

2x+0=4

2x=4

x=4/2

x=2

Replace x with 2 on any of two equations

2+y=3

y=3–2

y=1

Or

2-y=1

-y=1–2

-1y=-1

y=-1/-1

y=1

Finally substitute value of x and y in the required

x/y=2/1=2

simple :)

  • (x + y,1) = (3,x - y)

 \tt equating \: coordinates :

x + y = 3...(1)

x - y = 1...(2)

 \tt adding \: (1) \: and \: (2)

(x + y) + (x - y) = 3 + 1

  \implies 2x = 4

 \therefore x = 2

 \tt substituting \:(x = 2) \: in \: (1) :

 \implies 2 + y = 3

 \therefore y = 1

  \orange{ \boxed{\therefore (x,y) = (2,1)}}
