If x+y=11 and

x-y=5 then we will equate both equations for x and y

Sol. x+y=11

x-y=5

(-) (+)= (-)

Now x will be cancel and

2y =6

y =3

Now putting y =3 in first equation

x+y=11

x+3=11

x=11-3

x=9

Verify by adding both x and y answer will be 11 or subtracting ans. will be 5
