if x+y=20and x-y=4 then find value of x​

Answer:

x + y = 20 ...(1)

x - y = 4 ...(2)

Add (1) and (2),

x + y = 20

x - y = 4

________

2x = 24

x = 24/2

x = 12

The value of x is 12.

x+y=20 -------- (1)

x-y=4 ----------- (2)

from eq (1)

x+y=20

x = 20- y -------- (3)

putting the value of x in eq (2)

x-y =4

20- y- y = 4

20- 2y = 4

-2y = 4-20

-2y = -16

y = 16 /2

y = 8

putting the value of y in any one of the two eq.

here I put the value of y in eq.2

x-y =4

x- (8) = 4

x = 4+8

x = 12

so, the value of x is 12 and the value of y is 8
