it is given that x+y = 4 right so, make it whole square that is (x+y)^2=x^2 + y^2 +2xy

u get, 4^2 = x^2 + y^2 + 2*3

then, 16 = x^2 + y^2 + 6

hence, 16-6 = x^2 + y^2

therefore ur final answer is 10

GIVEN , x+y = 4

and xy = 3

We know,(x+y)^2 = x^2+y^2+2xy

(4)^2= x^2+y^2+2×3

16 = x^2+y^2+6

So,x^2+y^2 = 10
