the Value of x^2+y^2 is 13 and of x-y is 1

Marina2171: Can u please write the steps in detail please
Amitn1: x+y= 5 ,(x+y)^2=5^2, x^2+y^2+2xy=25, x^2+y^2+12=25, so x^2+y^2= 25 -12= 13
Amitn1: (x-y)^2= x^2+y^2-2xy, (x-y)^2= 13-12, so x-y =✓1= 1

{x}^{2} + {y}^{2}  ⇒ (x + y) ^{2} - 2xy \\  ⇒  {5}^{2} - 2 \times 6 \\  ⇒ 25 - 12 \\  ⇒ 13 \: (ans)
