If x-y=6 and xy=8,find the value if x*x+y*y.​

Given,

x - y = 6

xy = 8

To find value of =

 {x}^{2} +  {y}^{2}

By squaring x-y = 6

 {(x - y)}^{2} =  {(6)}^{2}

Using the identity,

 {a}^{2} - 2ab +  {b}^{2}

 {x}^{2}  +  {y}^{2}  = 36 + 2(xy)

 {x}^{2}  +  {y}^{2} = 36 + 16

 {x}^{2}  +  {y}^{2}  = 52
