X+Y=6
X=6-Y. (Equation 1)

X-Y=4
We know x=6-Y
Means
6-Y-Y=4
6-2y=4
-2y=4-6
-2y=-2. (- -=+)
y=2/2.
y=1

We know
X+Y=6
X+1=6
X=6-1
X=5

We have to find
x²+y²
=5²+1²
=25+1
=26

x²+y²=26

Hey there buddy!

according to the question,

x+y=6—eq i

x-y=4—eq ii

______

by adding eq i & ii, 2x=10

or, x=5

putting the value of x in eq i,

5+y=6

or, y=1

now, x²+y²=5²+1²
=25+1
=26

Hope this helps.
