Given:

x:y::y:z

To find:

The ratio of  x:z

Solution:

The equation x:y::y:z, can be simplified and expressed in various forms.

But to solve this question we will write it as x divided by y is equal to y divided by z.

x/y = y/z

Taking the y's to one side of the equation we will cross multiply it and obtain the equation

x×z = y²

Now to obtain the desired ratio we will divide both the sides of the equation with z²

x×z / z²  = y² / z²

Simplifying it further

x / z = y² / z²

Therefore, x:z is equal to y² / z².
