Answer: ± $2\sqrt{3}$

        $(x-\frac{1}{x} )^{2}=(x+\frac{1}{x} )^{2}-4*x*\frac{1}{x} \\\\=>(x-\frac{1}{x} )^{2}=(4)^{2}-4\\\\=>(x-\frac{1}{x} )^{2}=12$

       $=>((x-\frac{1}{x} )=$ ±$\sqrt{12}$

       => ($x-\frac{1}{x}$)= ±2$\sqrt{3}$
