If x²-x-6 and x²+3x-18 have a common
factor (x-a) then find the value of a.​

Answer:

x-a=0

x=a

x²-x-6=x²+3x-18(both having common factor)

now put value of x

a²-a-6=a²+3a-18

18-6=a²-a²+3a+a

12=4a

a=3
