so if we take x+1

let us find the reminder if we divide f(x)with x+1

f(-1)= (-1)^3 - 3(-1)^2 +4(-1) -4

=-1-3-4-4

= -12

let us take x-1

f(1)= 1^3 - 3*1^2 +4(1)+4

=1-3+4-4

= -2

let us try

x-2

f(2)= 8 - 12 + 8 -4

=16-16

=0

so the answer is c, x-2
