SOLUTION

GIVEN

x : y = 3 : 2

TO DETERMINE

The value of (2x+3y) : (3x+5y)

EVALUATION

Here it is given that x : y = 3 : 2

Let x = 3k and y = 2k

Now (2x+3y) : (3x+5y)

\displaystyle \sf{  = \frac{2x + 3y}{3x + 5y}  }

\displaystyle \sf{  = \frac{(2 \times 3k) + (3 \times 2k)}{(3 \times 3k) + (5 \times 2k)}  }

\displaystyle \sf{  = \frac{6k + 6k}{9 k + 10k}  }

\displaystyle \sf{  = \frac{12k}{ 19k}  }

\displaystyle \sf{  = \frac{12}{ 19}  }

\displaystyle \sf{  = 12 : 19}
