we can find the poles of a magnet by following this....
take a magnet
put some iron fillings on the magnet
u should throw them from a height...
then they get attached to 2 sides of the magnet.
they will be attracted to every part of magnet but more at 2 sides.
the 2 sides where they are attracted are the 2 poles of the magnet....

First I will spread the iron dust over the paper.Then I will bring the magnet under the paper.And it will create a pattern.The dust will be lined up according to the magnetic field created around the magnetic.Then You will be able to find the poles.It was an experiment by Michael Faraday or Volta I can't remember..
