It is easy if you have the will. What you must understand is that being a monk is not a carrier path. That means you cannot become a monk only by studying the Baudhistic culture and by following the eightfold path which is the Baudha’s teaching. It is a way of life. Being a monk is to slowly withdraw from life as we know it to a life of seeking liberation. Liberation from this world is the aim of the monk. The Monk believes in reincarnation not hell and heaven or even the Muslim heaven with the virgins. He believes that only way of escaping the cycle of birth and death is to get liberated. ‘Mukti’ from this world which is filled with suffering, pain and eventual death.
I have met many monks while travelling and they are a unique bunch of humans. They have a unique combination of modernism and tradition. They accept technology and gadgets but restrain from pleasures. Being a monk is hard work just like any other seeking for eternal redemption is. I still suggest you try to learn more about monks and their destiny. They are a fabulous bunch of people. Las suggestion if you want to be a monk, please don’t drink old monk... Cheeeers.
