Also

The very title, with a repetition of the sounds ‘r’ and ‘n’ and the long vowels ‘ai’ and ‘oo’ imitates the rhythmic pitter-patter of rain on a tin roof.

Answer:

The rhyme scheme in the poem rain on the roof is

abcbdefe

Example:

When the humid shadows hover

Over all the starry spheres

And the melancholy darkness

Gently weeps in rainy tears,

What a bliss to press the pillow

Of a cottage-chamber bed

And lie listening to the patter

Of the soft rain overhead!

In all the stanzas , the ending words of first three sentences are not rhyming with each other. In the fourth sentence the ending word rhymes with the second sentence ending word. The fifth sentence ending word does not rhyme with any other word. Ending words of the sixth and eight sentences rhyme with each other. The seventh sentence does not rhyme with any other word. And because of this the rhyme scheme is abcbdefe
