If you find chloroform bacteria in a sample of water collected from a river what would you conclude

The water is contaminated. Also the bacteria is coliform, I think.

We conclude that the river water indicates it's contamination by disease causing micro-organisms.The reason for such water pollution is that coliform itself is harmless and it's presence in water indicates that other more harmful,intestinal bacteria might also be present in the water.
