If I had been Mr. Sakota, I wouldn’t have been afraid to let this woman in at midnight when she appeared for the first time. In the story “The Lovely Mother,” a mysterious woman appears every night at Mr. Sakota’s doorstep to ask for an ame for her child.
Being in his place, I would have reacted in the same way he did. I would have helped. But if she would have appeared every night I would have been scared of her but would have still tried to find out what she wanted to convey.
