If you place a brick on a smooth floor, you can move it easily by pushing it with your foot. Yet if you kick the brick, you will hurt your foot. Why?

If we kick the brick, we do it with full force and inertia comes into action so we get hurt. But when we move it simply on floor, no force is involved at it is at rest so we can easily move it with our foot.
