if you push a heavy box which is at rest, you must exert some to start its motion. how ever once the box is sliding you apply a lesser force to maintain that motion why?​

Explanation:

when the block is at rest there is a friction called static friction , which make rahe interlocking tight, which is why it is tough to move a block which is at rest

and when the block is moving there is a kinetic friction which acts and the interlockings are less , so it is easy to move a block which is already move
