let no. be x
so according to the equation
x -   \frac{1}{2}  =  \frac{2x}{2}  -  \frac{1}{2}  =  \frac{2x - 1}{2}
now given
 \frac{2x - 1}{2}  \times  \frac{1}{2}  =  \frac{1}{8}  \\  \frac{2x - 1}{4}  =  \frac{1}{8}
now
2x - 1 =  \frac{1}{8}  \times 4 \\ 2x - 1 =  \frac{1}{2}  \\ 2x =  \frac{1}{2}  + 1 \\ 2x =  \frac{3}{2}  \\ x =  \frac{3}{2}  \div 2 \\ x =  \frac{3}{2}  \times  \frac{1}{2}  \\ x =  \frac{3}{4}
hope it helps

hi

le tthe number be x

ACQ , If you subtract 1/2 from a number and multiply the result by 1/2,you get 1/8.

so lets form an equation

(x - 1/2) * 1/2 = 1/8

(x - 1/2) = 1/8 / 1/2

(x - 1/2) = 1/4

x = 1/4 + 1/2

x = 1/4 + 2/4

x = 3/4

hoepe it helps u
