\huge\mathfrak\blue{Solution:}

Let the number be 's'.

So, according to the question,

(s - 1/2) × 1/2 = 1/8

s - 1/2 = 1/8 ÷ 1/2

s - 1/2 = 1/8 × 2/1 (by reciprocal)

s - 1/2 = 1/4

s = 1/4 + 1/2

s = 1/4 + 2/4 (taking the L.C.M of 2 and 4.... the L.C.M will be 4)

s = 3/4

Hence, the number is 3/4.
