If we use baking soda instead of baking powder,then:
Both the substances has different ingredients which means using the wrong ingredient can change the taste.So usually we prefer to use baking powder in cakes because when we use baking soda for the same then there is bitterness in the item .
We can also use baking soda ,but for that condition we had to add tartaric acid .When we add tartaric acid to baking soda it gets converted to baking powder.
